Joining a Culinary or Pastry Program<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Culinary Arts Department offers in-depth programs that allow students to accomplish their culinary goals. We invite prospective students to review our website and programs. If additional information is needed, contact the <\/span> Culinary Arts Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Once you have determined which Culinary Arts program is right for you, it’s time to become an ACC student. Follow the steps below. Culinary classes are not open to general registration and you will need to follow the process below to register for classes.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 1:<\/strong> Getting Started<\/h3>\n

Get ready to take credit classes at ACC.<\/strong> If you have graduated from high school or have a GED, then you are ready to get started taking credit classes at ACC. Please review the <\/span>Admissions<\/a>\u00a0web page for the step-by-step process for all students new to ACC. We recommend meeting with an <\/span>Area of Study Specialist<\/a> <\/span>to ensure your major is up-to-date and that you are TSI complete<\/span><\/a> before meeting with a Culinary Advisor.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are a current or former ACC student, you will need to meet with an<\/span> Area of Study Specialist <\/span>to ensure your record is in good standing and to ensure your major is up-to-date. Then continue to Step 2.<\/span><\/p>\n

Completion times for Culinary Arts and Pastry Arts degrees are as follows:<\/strong><\/span>
\nCulinary Arts or Baking and Pastry Associates of Applied Science = 2 Years*<\/span>
\nCulinary Arts or Pastry Arts Certificate = 1 Year*<\/span>
\n*In Full-Time Status<\/span><\/p>\n

To proceed to Step 2<\/em>, you need to attend the Culinary, Hospitality, & Tourism Area of Study Information Session<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP<\/strong>\u00a02:<\/strong> Culinary Advising<\/span><\/h3>\n

Get classes unlocked.<\/strong> Culinary courses are not available for general registration.\u00a0 Culinary and Pastry students will need to submit a student petition<\/a> form.\u00a0 Once the petition is\u00a0 submitted students will need to schedule a meeting with a Culinary Advisor to discuss course eligibility to have culinary courses made available for registration. <\/span><\/p>\n

A current<\/span> food handler certificate<\/a> must be on file before the first day of lab class.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Contact a<\/span> Culinary Advisor<\/a>\u00a0to make an advising appointment.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP<\/strong>\u00a03:<\/strong> Registration<\/span><\/h3>\n

Sign up for classes.<\/strong> After you have met with a <\/span> Culinary Advisor and have submitted all the necessary documents, you are ready for registration. Be sure to register for classes through the Student Services database. If you have not reviewed the<\/span> Course Schedule<\/a>\u00a0or Registration Eligibility Times<\/a>, this is the time to plan your semester. Being prepared for registration will ensure you get the classes you need.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuition is based on your residential status. In addition to tuition, the college charges additional fees. Click <\/span>here<\/a> to see tuition rates and all fees.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP<\/strong>\u00a04:<\/strong> Orientation<\/span><\/h3>\n

Get equipped.<\/strong> New Culinary and Pastry students (and Hospitality students registering for CHEF 1301 Basic Food Preparation or FDNS 1301 Introduction to Foods classes) are required sign a Code of Conduct and Netiquette form. Both forms will be provided during Orientation. They are also available online and can be found here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

You will learn about<\/span> uniforms\/tools<\/a>, lab rules, and helpful academic resources. Please see our Home<\/a> page for the upcoming session.<\/span><\/p>\n
